2017 NCSA Junior National Championships- Day 5 Prelims Heat Sheets
The heat sheets for the final prelims session of the 2017 NCSA Junior National Championships have been released.
On the women’s side, a slew of winners from the course of the weekend headline the final day. Julia Cook of the Aggies Swim Club, who was tonight’s champion in the 100 backstroke, is seeded first in the 50 freestyle and fourth in the 200 IM. Nation’s Capital’s Phoebe Bacon will be a strong contender in the 50 backstroke, as will Long Island’s Kristin Romano, who is also seeded first in the 200 IM. The women’s mile also looks to be interesting. Madison Homovich of Marlins of Raleigh holds the top seed, but Club Wolverine’s Sierra Schmidt, who won the 1000 earlier this week, will race in the second heat of the afternoon because she is entered with a long course time. The women will compete in the 50 backstroke, 200 IM, 50 freestyle, and 1650 freestyle.
As for the men, Reece Whitley of Penn Charter is set to look to dominate yet another event, as he is seeded four seconds ahead of the rest of the field in the 200 IM. After winning the 100 backstroke and 100 freestyle tonight, Rockwood’s Jack Dolan holds the top seed in the 50 freestyle. Machine’s Thomas Hallock and Baylor’s Robert Freeman look to be strong contenders in that event as well. In addition to being the third seed in the 50, Freeman is seeded first in the mile as well, where he is entered with a time 20 seconds faster than second seed and 1000 champion, Matthew Hirschberger of Nation’s Capital. The men will compete in the 50 backstroke, 200 IM, 50 freestyle, and 1650 freestyle.
The action begins at 8:30 A.M. EST.
