2019 French Open Swimming: Charlotte Bonnet, Marco Koch Dominate

The 2019 French Open Swimming wrapped up today with another packed lineup of events.
It was another action-filled day with three, first-place ties. The men’s 50m breaststroke, women’s 50m back, and men’s 100m freestyle all had two first-place finishers.
French favorites Charolette Bonnet and Jeremy Stravius got things done again during this session with Hannah Miley of Great Britain having another nice day. Brazil’s Felipe Lima, Joao Gomes Jr. and Jhenifer Conceicao also won their events, respectively.
Women’s 800m Free Final
Only two swimmers competed in the women’s 800m freestyle. Nolwenn Nunes of France finished first with a time of 9:03.78. Naome Horter of France finished second (9:21.08).
Men’s 50m Butterfly A Final
Winning the first A final of the session at the 2019 French Open Swimming was Jeremy Stravius of France. Stravius finished first in the men’s 50m free with a time of 24.07. Getting to the wall second was Mathys Goosen of the Netherlands. He finished with a time of 24.17.
Placing third in the event was Maxime Grousset of France finishing with a time of 24.30. Yonel Govindin of France finished fourth (24.46) while Nicolas Vermorel finished fifth (24.59).
Tying for sixth was Jacob Peters of Great Britain and Julien Henx of Luxembourg. They both swam a time of 24.61. Flavien Aubry finished eighth (24.79).
Women’s 200m Freestyle A Final
Charolette Bonnet of France cruised to first in the A final of the women’s 200m free at the 2019 French Open Swimming. She touched at a 1:57.84. Closest to her and finishing second with a time of 2:00.23 was Reva Foos of Germany.
Taking third with a time of 2:01.40 was Beryl Gastaldello of France. Finishing fourth (2:01.67) was Joana Desbordes of France. Manuella Lyrio finished a close fifth (2:01.72).
Finishing a tenth later at 2:01.82 was Laura Riedemann of Germany taking sixth. Marjolein Delno of the Netherlands finished seventh (2:01.88) with Assia Touati placing eighth (2:02.72).
Men’s 50 Breaststroke A Final
Finishing first and second in the A final of the men’s 50 breast were Brazil teammates Joao Gomez Jr. and Felipe Lima. Gomez Jr. finished first with a time of 27.07. Lima took second (27.19).
Darragh Greene of Ireland finished third with a time of 27.76. A tenth off him, finishing fourth with a time of 27.86, was Bernhard Reitshammer of Austria.
In fifth was Tobias B. Bjerg of Denmark. Sixth (28.21) went to Zaccaria Casna of Italy, France’s Theo Bussiere finished seventh (28.28) with Ties Elzerman of the Netherlands getting out touched for eighth (28.29).
Women’s 100m Breast A Final
Winning her second event of the meet, the women’s 100m breaststroke, was Brazil’s Jhennifer Conceicao. She won a close A final race with a time of 1:08.34. Finishing second with a time of 1:08.38 was Lisa Mamie of Switzerland.
Kayla Van Der Merwe of Great Britain finished third with a time of 1:08.56. In fourth with a time of 1:08.70 was Dutch swimmer Tes Schouten. Matilde Schroeder of Denmark finished fifth (1:09.67).
Taking sixth (1:09.97) in the event was Rosey Metz of the Netherlands. Fanny Deberghes of France finished seventh (1:10.36) while Cornelia Pammer of Austria took eighth (1:11.87).
Men’s 400m IM A Final
Luxembourg’s Raphael Stacchiotti won a close A final of the men’s 400m IM. He finished with a time of 4:22.24, not far ahead of Arjan Knipping of the Netherlands who finished second with a time of 4:23.05. Geoffrey Renard of France stayed with the two, getting to the wall third with a time of 4:24.41.
Leading the rest of the field and finishing fourth with a time 4:31.26 was Clement Bidard of France. Jakob Goodman of Great Britain finished fifth (4:33.14).
In sixth with a time of 4:34.65 was Emmanuel Limozin of France.Ramon Klenz of Germany placed seventh (4:35.45) and Theo Goyeaudof France finished eighth (4:39.19).
Women’s 100m Butterfly A Final
It was Jeanette Ottesen of Denmark who came out on top in the A final of the women’s 100m fly at the 2019 French Open Swimming. She finished first with a time of 59.06. Finishing a close second (59.13) was Marie Wattel of France.
In third finishing with a time of 59.90 was Brazil’s Daynara De Paula. Kim Busch of the Netherlands got to the wall fourth (1:00.10) with Beryl Gastaldello of France finishing fifth (1:00.34).
Sixth went to Anais Arlandis of France. She touched at a 1:00.62. Ellen Walshe of Ireland placed seventh (1:01.08) and Aurora Petronio of Italy finished eighth (1:01.30).
Men’s 100m Freestyle A Final
An exciting men’s 100m free A final resulted in another tie for first between Brazil’s Marcelo Chierighini and France’s Mehdy Metella. The two finished with a time of 48.83.
Placing third (49.17) and fourth (49.29) were Brazilian teammates Breno Correia and Pedro Spajari. In fifth place with a time of 49.32 was Maxime Grousset of France, Bazil’s Gabriel Santos finished sixth (49.70).
Finishing off the heat were Dutch swimmers Kyle Stolk and Nyls Korstanje. Stolk finished seventh (49.70) while Korstanje placed eighth (49.96).
Women’s 50m Freestyle A Final
It was Femke Heemskerk of the Netherlands who won the women’s 50m freestyle today. She got to the wall first with a time of 24.90.
French favorites Charlotte Bonnet and Anna Santamans tied for second, both getting to the wall with a time of 25.32. Emily Barclay of Great Britain finished fourth (25.54).
Hundredths of a second separated Anouchka Martin of France and Giulia Spaziani of Italy. Martin finished fifth (25.72) while Spaziani finished sixth (25.78).
Taking seventh place in the event with a time of 25.87 was Melanie Henique of France. Placing eighth (25.92) was Cassandra Petit of France.
Men’s 200m Butterfly A Final
Brazil’s Leonardo De Deus got things done today in the A final of the men’s 200m fly at the 2019 French Open Swimming. He finished a ways ahead of the field with a time of 1:56.65. Closest to him and finishing second with a time of 2:00.70 was Brendan Hyland of Ireland. Matthias Marsau of France finished third (2:01.52).
Taking fourth in the event with a time of 2:01.97 was Paul Espernberger of Austria. Clement Henry of France finished fifth (2:02.86).
Sixth place went to Sebastian Steffan of Austria, swimming a 2:03.31, while Hugo Grandjean of France finished seventh (2:03.87). Jacob Peters of Great Britain finished eighth (2:06.89).
Women’s 200m IM A Final
Claiming another victory during this meet was Hannah Miley of Great Britain. She cruised to first with a time of 2:14.58 in the women’s 200m IM.
A close second and third went to Cyrielle Duhamel of France and Lena Kreudl of Austria. Duhamel finished second (2:16.36) and Kreudl took third (2:16.43). Next to them was Camille Dauba of France finishing fourth (2:17.34)
In fifth place with a time of 2:22.01 was Lucie Delmas of Frace. Claire Bourse of France placed sixth (2:23.26).
The French rounded out the field with Anna Fave finishing seventh (2:24.26) and Lucile Mouret taking eighth (2:25.62).
Men’s 100m Backstroke A Final
Hitting the sub-55 mark and winning the A final of the men’s 100 backstroke was Yohann Ndoye Brouard of France. He touched at 54.99. Finishing second with a time of 55.64 was Bernhard Reitshammer of Austria.
Maxence Orange of France and Shane Ryan of Ireland finished close behind. The two tied for third (55.69).
Finishing fifth with a time of 55.81 was Paul-Gabriel Bedel of France. Only a hundredth behind him was Stanislas Huille of France, finishing sixth (55.82).
Placing seventh with a time of 56.24 was Conor Ferguson of Ireland. In eighth (57.29) was Ladislas Salczer of France.
Women’s 50m Backstroke A Final
The trend today seemed to be tying for first with Kira Toussaint of the Netherlands and Australia’s Holly Barratt touched at the same time in the A final of the women’s 50m back. Both finished with a time of 28.13.
Getting to the wall next was Laura Riedemann of Germany finishing third with a time of 28.40. In fourth (28.51) was Maaike Waard of the Netherlands. Mathilde Cini of France finished fifth (28.69) with Lila Touili finishing a close sixth (28.73).
In seventh with a time of 29.04 was Mie Oestergaard Nielsen of Denmark. Anastasia Urbaniak finished eighth (29.97).
Men’s 200m Breaststroke A Final
It was Marco Koch of Germany who took the A final of the men’s 200m breaststroke. He finished with a time of 2:08.62. Finishing behind him with a 2:09.10 was Arno Kamminga of the Netherlands. Darragh Greene of Ireland finished third (2:12.61).
Next to the wall, finishing fourth (2:14.94) was Jeremy Desplanches of Switzerland. Jean Dencausse of France placed fifth (2:15.09) with Thomas Boursac Cevera Lortet finishing sixth (2:15.58).
Just out of the 2:15 range was Johannes Dietrich of Austria finishing seventh (2:16.08). Giovanni Sorriso took eighth (2:16.73).
Women’s 200m Backstroke A Final
Louise Lefebvre of France won the A final of the women’s 200m back during today’s session. She finished first with a time of 2:17.33. Not far behind was Lilou Ressencourt of France finishing second with a time of 2:18.29.
Touching the wall third at a 2:20.91 was Charlotte Prince-Rayner of Great Britain. Fourth (2:23.34) went to Lou-Anne Guiton of France.
Rounding off the heat in fifth (2:23.66) and sixth (2:27.32) were Alexane Comier and Noah Bondouy.
Men’s 400m Free A Final
Finishing off the meet was a Davide Casarin win in the A final of the men’s 400m free. Only a hundredth of a second separated the Italian swimmer and Tunisia’s Mehdi Lagili. Casarin finished first (3:53.38) while Lagili finished second (3:53.29).
Coming in third with a time of 3:56.42 was Tunisian swimmer Ahmed-Ayoub Hafnaoui. Paul Beaugrand of France finished fourth with a time of 3:56.64 with Fabio Lombini of Italy close behind him finishing fifth (3:56.78).
In sixth place with a time of 3:58.67 was David Aubry of France. Fares Zitouni and Damien Joly of France finished seventh (4:01.82) and eighth (4:03.92).
