2016 Pac 12 Men’s Championships: Day 2 Finals Live Recap
Day two finals of the 2016 Pac 12 Championships continue with some close match-ups after a dynamic prelims. Hit refresh for all of the latest coverage.

500 Free
USC’s Reed Malone powered to a first place finish in the 500 free with a final time of 4:11.80, shaving 3.47 seconds off his prelims time of 4:15.27.
Stanford’s Liam Egan slid to second, finishing with a time of 4:13.80, while teammate Danny Thomson posted a final 4:14.61 for third.
Bence Kiraly of Utah delivered a time of 4:15.75 to finish fourth overall ahead of Cal’s Janardan Burns (4:16.47).
USC’s Pawel Furtek shaved 1.07 seconds off his prelims time to finish sixth with a 4:17.04.
Cal’s Ryan Kao (4:18.61) and Arizona’s Chris Wieser (4:19.96) finished seventh and eighth respectively.
200 IM
Cal freshman Andrew Seliskar cruised to a first place finish in the 200 IM. Seliskar not only maintained his spot at the top of the rankings, but also succeeded in shaving .22 seconds off his prelims time of 1:43.38 to post a final time of 1:43.26.
Stanford’s Gray Umbach and Abrahm DeVine entered finals with matching times of 1:43.56. Umbach pulled ahead of DeVine to post a final time of 1:43.41 over DeVine’s 1:43.51.
Teammate Max Williamson ended the race with a time of 1:43.91 to finish fourth overall, while USC’s Patrick Mulcare turned in a 1:44.22 for fifth.
Arizona’s Nick Thorne (1:44.60), teammate Thane Maudslien (1:44.62), and USC’s Michael Domagala (1:44.75) rounded out the top eight.
50 Free
Sam Perry of Stanford moved up from third to first, posting a final time of 19.30, shaving .31 seconds off his prelims time of 19.61.
Cal’s Justin Lynch maintained his spot at second with a final time of 19.41, while Arizona’s Chatham Dobbs rocketed from seventh to third with a time of 19.57.
Cal’s Tyler Messerschmidt and USC’s Ralf Tribuntsov battled to the finish, posting times .01 seconds apart. Messerschmidt finished ahead of Tribuntsov 19.73 to 19.74.
Stanford’s Jeff Garnier and Arizona’s Renny Richmond delivered similar times for sixth and seventh place. Garnier turned in a 19.80 over Richmond’s 19.81.
Stanford’s Patrick Conaton finished eighth with 19.95.
200 Free Relay
Arizona and Cal battled for first in the 200 free relay posting final times .48 seconds apart. Arizona’s relay team of Renny Richmond (19.77), Chatham Dobbs (19.29), Chad Idensohn (19.10), and JP Beach (19.25) posted a combined 1:17.41 for first.
The relay team of Messerschmidt (19.81), Long Gutierrez (19.58), Kyle Coan (19.54), and Justin Lynch (18.96) turned in a 1:17.89 for second, shaving .81 seconds from their entry time of 1:18.70.
Stanford’s Connor Black (19.86), Sam Perry (19.69), Jeff Garnier (19.28), and Spencer DeShon (19.31) finished third with a final time of 1:18.14.
USC was fourth with a time of 1:18.26, while ASU took fifth with a time of 1:18.86.
Stanford’s ‘B’ relay grabbed sixth with a time of 1:19.06 over Utah’s ‘A’ relay (1:22.12) and ‘B’ relay (1:23.50).
1-Meter Diving
Stanford’s Bradley Christensen maintained his position as the top scorer posting a final score of 405.60 to win the 1-meter diving event.
USC’s Collin Pollard finished as a close second with a total of 402.15 points, while Utah’s Josiah Purss grabbed third with an accumulated 385.50 points.
Fourth went to ASU’s Heikki Makikallio and his 378.55 points and fifth was picked up by Utah’s Jake Crayne (367.10 points).
Stanford’s Connor Kuremsky (337.90), ASU’s David Hoffer (319.30), and Arizona’s Dominic Ricotta (309.35) rounded out the top eight.
