2016 Arena Pro Swim Series Indianapolis: Day 3 Prelims Heat Sheet – Results
Women’s 200 IM
Melanie Margalis continued her very solid weekend with a top seeded 200 IM. She touched well ahead of the field, finishing in 2:13.47. Kaitlyn Jones finished .03 ahead of Vien Nguyen as the two posted times of 2:!5.87 and 2:15.90.
Tanja Kylliainen qualified fourth in 2:16.42 and Emily Cameron was fifth in 2:16.81. Meaghan Raab (2:17.06), Siobhan Haughey (2:17.35), and Rebecca Postoll (2:17.52) complete tonight’s A final.
Men’s 200 IM
Mark Szaranek stopped the clock in 2:02.85 to earn tonight’s top seed. In second was Gunnar Bentz with a 2:03.15, just .05 ahead of Michael Weiss in 2:30.20.
After a 400 IM win on Friday night, Jay Litherland touched fourth this morning in 2:03.25. Evan White qualified fifth in 2:04.57. There was tie for the sixth seed with Sheng Jun Pang and Nolan Tesone both stopping the clock in 2:04.66. Carlos Claverie (2:04.68) rounds out the championship final.
Women’s 200 Backstroke
Dominique Bouchard was first to the wall in a 2:11.09 and Erin Voss finished second this morning with a 2:11.87. Third went to Clara Smiddy in 2:12.06 and Danielle Galyer qualified fourth in 2:12.69.
Hannah Stevens (2:13.24), Bridgette Alexander (2:13.70), and Kennedy Goss (2:14.06) were seeds five through seven. Alice Treuth and Asia Seidt tied for the eighth seed in 2:14.18, requiring a swim off.
Men’s 200 Backstroke
The top three finishers set themselves up for a tight battle tonight. Corey Main was first to the wall in 2:00.06, followed by Arkady Vyatchanin (2:00.47) and Carter Griffin (2:00.50).
Tristan Sanders and Aaron Greene were the next two to the wall in 2:01.04 and 2:01.18.
Rex Tullius (2:02.42), Michael Reilman (2:02.83), and Jay Litherland (2:03.71) also earned lanes in tonight’s A final.
Women’s 100 Freestyle
Fresh off her 100 backstroke win, Olivia Smoliga turned in the top time this morning in a 54.68. 100 butterfly champion Kelsi Worrell touched second in 54.83 with Arianna Vanderpool Wallace on her toes with a 54.85.
Ivy Martin finished fourth in 55.79 and Mallory Comerford grabbed fifth in 55.86 this morning.
Veronica Burchill (55.92), Siobhan Haugher (55.96), and Trude Rothrock (56.27) also will swim in tonight’s A final.
Men’s 100 Freestyle
Josh Schneider led the top four swimmers under the 50 second mark this morning. He touched in 49.19, ahead of Canadian Santo Condorelli in 49.32. Marcelo Chierighini was third in 49.36 and Joao De Lucca qualified fourth with a 49.93.
Michael Chadwick tied for fifth this morning with Zheng Weh Quah was the two both touched in 50.02. Darian Townsend (50.19) and Ali Khalafalla (50.43) will take tonight’s outside lanes.
Women’s 800 Freestyle
The top eight qualifiers will swim tonight.
Men’s 1500 Freestyle
The top eight qualifiers will swim tonight.
