Women’s 200 IM:
Caitlin Leverenz grabbed the top seed for tonight’s finals of the women’s 200 IM with a time of 2:14.44. Leverenz, who specializes in the IM, finished more than two seconds ahead of the competition.
Leverenz was followed by a tie between Karlee Bispo and Siobhan Haughey for second. The two posted matching times of 2:16.54.
Emma Reaney delivered a time of 2:17.00 for tonight’s fourth place seed, while Monika Gonzalez Hermosillo finished fifth overall in prelims with a time of 2:17.27.
The sixth place seed was picked up by Kate Mills and her time of 2:17.40.
Miranda Tucker (2:17.53) and Ary Medina (2:17.70) rounded out the top eight qualifiers.
Men’s 200 IM:
Norbert Szabo bested the competition in prelims of the men’s 200 IM to claim the top seed. Szabo stopped the clock at a 2:02.51 for first.
Picking up the second place seed was Tom Peribonio with a final 2:03.16. He was followed closely by Conor Dwyer’s third place finish of 2:03.57.
Jose Martinez grabbed the fourth place seed in tonight’s final with a time of 2:03.70, while Uvis Kalnins was fifth with a 2:04.06.
Ryan Lochte, the 400 IM winner from last night, picked up the sixth place seed with a time of 2:04.26. Lochte’s best time from 2016 sits at a 1:58.43 from the Austin stop of the Arena Pro Swim Series.
Michael Weiss (2:04.74) and Kyle Whitaker (2:05.07) completed the top eight qualifiers.
Women’s 200 Back:
The women’s 200 back was highlighted by a close field. Erin Voss pulled away from the competition to grab tonight’s first place seed wit ha time of 2:11.08.
Posting similar times to return as tonight’s second and third place seeds were Dominique Bouchard and Alex Sumner. Bouchard posted a 2:11.54 for second, ahead of Sumner’s 2:11.60.
Close on their heels was Clara Smiddy, qualifying fourth for tonight’s final with a time of 2:11.66.
Fifth went to Kylie Masse, last night’s 100 back winner, and her time of 2:12.09.
Jen Marrkand posted a 2:13.41 for sixth, while Alice Treuth was seventh with a 2:13.83.
Eighth was picked up by Kirsty Coventry and her time of 2:13.98.
Men’s 200 Back:
Tyler Clary delivered the top time in the men’s 200 back for the morning. Clary stopped the clock at a 1:59.48 to qualify first for tonight’s finals and to be the only athlete under the 2-minute mark.
Grabbing the second place seed was Arkady Vyatchanin with a time of 2:00.57. Vyatchanin currently sits at eighteenth in the world rankings for 2016 with a 1:57.51 from the Austin stop of the Arena Pro Swim Series.
Robert Owen was a close third in prelims with a time of 2:00.86, while Carter Griffin picked up fourth with a 2:01.91.
Fifth place was claimed by Aaron Greene and his time of 2:02.18.
Posting similar times for sixth and seventh in prelims were Tristin Sanders and Andy Song An. Sanders turned in a 2:03.70 over Song An’s 2:03.78.
David Cespedes Echeverry wrapped up the top eight with a 2:03.83.
Women’s 50 Breast:
Katie Meili scared the meet and pool record in the women’s 50 breaststroke, posting a time of 30.62 to earn the top seed in tonight’s final.
Sprint breaststroke superstar Lilly King turned in the second fastest time of the morning, stopping the clock at a 30.78.
Alia Atkinson, the meet record holder in this event, finished third in prelims with a time of 31.33, just ahead of Rachel Nicol’s 31.39.
Picking up fifth was Emily McClellan and her time of 31.65, while Miranda Tucker claimed the sixth place seed with a 31.89.
Andee Cottrell (32.10) and Danielle Herrmann (32.36) rounded out the top eight qualifiers.
Men’s 50 Breast:
Cody Miller continued to dominate the breaststroke events with a new pool record in the men’s 50 breaststroke during prelims. Miller stopped the clock at a 27.39 to lower the existing record of 27.71 set in 2013 by Mike Alexandrov.
Richard Funk picked up the second place seed with a time of 28.07.
Jason Block and Kevin Steel turned in similar times of 28.17 and 28.18 to finish third and fourth, respectively, in prelims.
The close times continued with Zach Hayden and Nic eriksson posting times also only .01 seconds apart. Hayden picked up fifth with a 28.20 just ahead of Eriksson’s 28.21.
Youssef El Kamash (28.37) and Jorge Murillo Valdes (28.38) were seventh and eighth respectively.
Women’s 100 Free:
“Momma on a Mission” Dana Vollmer continued to sharpen her swims with the top finish in the women’s 100 free. Vollmer clocked a 53.59 to enter the top ten world rankings for 2016 at ninth.
Young sprintstar Penny Oleksiak grabbed second with a qualifying time of 54.15, sitting not far off her sixth ranked time of 53.31 from the Canadian Olympic Trials.
Chantal Van Landeghem, last night’s winner of the 50 free, earned the third place seed with a time of 54.30, just ahead of Madison Kennedy’s 54.62.
Fifth was picked up by Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace and her time of 54.74.
Sandrine Mainville (55.08), Taylor Ruck (55.45), and Siobhan Haughey (55.55) completed the top eight qualifiers.
Men’s 100 Free:
The top two qualifiers in the men’s 100 free succeeded in clocking the only sub-50 second 100’s during prelims. Joao De Lucca turned up the heat to grab the first place seed with a time of 49.58, while Yuri Kisil grabbed second with a 49.92.
Jimmy Feigen finished third overall in prelims with a time of 50.02, just ahead of Santo Condorelli’s 50.13.
Ryan Lochte qualified close behind with a 50.15 for fifth.
A trio of close swims completed the eight qualifiers. Cullen Jones was sixth with a 50.31 and was followed closely by Blake Pieroni (50.34) and Michael Chadwick (50.35).
